A well designed and much deserved Vietnam Memorial has been constructed in Seignious Hall on the first floor. The memorial, which recognizes two former Bulldog football players, was erected on the wall outside the football locker room.
The memorial recognizes Joseph C. “Joe” Missar and Frank M. “Skip” Murphy, class of 1965. These two Cadets, leaders on the football team and in the Corps, gave their lives in the service of their country during the war in Vietnam. The structure showcases pictures of the two young men and outlines their many accomplishments and awards.
Bob Carson ’73, Judge Michael Duffy ’65, along with several other members of the Class of 1965, played an instrumental role in the creation and installation of the memorial.
In addition to the structure in Seignious Hall, there is a statue of Joe Missar and Frank Murphy located in the South end zone of Johnson Hagood Stadium, which stands as a tribute to all Citadel men killed in action in Vietnam.
