1906 Team Picture
Only Undefeated and Unscored on Team in Citadel Football History
The Varsity of 1906 has the honor of being the only undefeated team in the history of Citadel football. Although it is a fact that the schedule in those early years was made up mostly of games with local teams, yet this team would have been worthy opponent for any college team of its day. Ralph Foster, a great University of South Carolina end, began a three-year term of coaching with this team and he demonstrated at once that his work was to be of a high caliber. The outstanding members of this eleven were: James H. Hammond, captain and quarterback; Albert Able, a great halfback; Jack Crawford, an end two powerful tackles, Ted Russell and Gamble.
