Week 7 CFA letter
Dear Citadel Football Association:
First and foremost, I would like to thank the fans that came out to Johnson Hagood Stadium to support us this weekend. We are building a program, not a season. While we aren’t where I had hoped we would be at this point in the year, we have made tremendous strides as a program after last season. Now we must find a way to finish strong and win games in the 4th quarter. Playing while ahead is a new feeling for our players, we must be able to keep the pedal to the floor and keep up our intensity while leading. After a tough loss, our team is more focused than ever. We have a 24-hour rule in our program, so that game has been flushed and we are moving forward focusing on the most important game, which is the next one.
We have kept up and are well informed about what is going on in the western region of North Carolina. We have been in contact with personnel from the WCU staff and are organizing a supply drive to bring them items they need when we go on our trip up the mountain this weekend. This Western Carolina team is led by head coach Kerwin Bell who is synonymous with offense. This WCU offense has had over 450 total yards each of their last two games, and they are led by a very talented quarterback, Cole Gonzales. They also have a very talented running back, Branson Adams, out of Greensboro, North Carolina that we will have to account for as well. This Western Carolina team is strong in some areas that we have a lot of youth, but we are up for the challenge and are excited to go up the mountain this weekend.
Go Dogs!
Sincerely,
Maurice T. Drayton
