Dear Citadel Football Association:
First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone that came out and supported the Bulldogs in our game against Samford. Not only was it a great win for us but it was also Senior Day. Prior to the game we recognized 25 seniors as well as 1 student assistant coach, 1 student athletic trainer, and 3 student filmers. These seniors mean a lot to our program, and it will be tough to see them go at the end of the season, but we are thankful for everything they have done for our program.
The bye this past weekend was refreshing. As a staff we realize that being a student-athlete is difficult, so we spent some time this week putting the fun back into football with various competitions. We were also able to get some self-scouting done during the week which is going to help us make some adjustments going forward into the last 3 games of the year. Each day we spent a designated block of time on preparation for this week’s game against Chattanooga. We feel we are in a good spot going into this week.
Looking ahead to Chattanooga, we will have to stop their high-powered offense. Their offense has averaged over 400 yards per game in the games that they have won, so we will have to come out strong on defense. The Mocs are led by quarterback Chase Artopoeus who is a UCLA transfer. Artopeous was not available for last week’s game against Western Carolina but will be back against us. UTC is also strong on defense, led by two very talented defensive linemen. They have some strengths in areas that we are young, but I am confident our young players will continue to rise to the challenge. This is our last home game of the season and homecoming. We are looking forward to playing in front of a sold-out home crowd this coming weekend. Go Dogs!
Sincerely,
Maurice T. Drayton
